In case you missed it, there’s a new series on calorie restriction (CR) up on the site. We are going to go deep and wide on CR in the coming months…

On that note, I’ve been continuing my obsessive digging into the literature on CR and found this paper on caloric restriction and depression to be particularly interesting. Not sure we’ll get to depression and CR in NS, but never say never.

Unrelated I also came across this paper, which is kind of blowing my mind. I had always suspected at least 2, if not 3, variants of type 2 diabetes (T2D), but this paper takes it to another level. The inevitable question, of course, is if these subtypes have parallel subtypes in insulin resistance (i.e., does the precursor state to T2D mirror the end state) AND if this knowledge offers more nuanced and customized treatment plans.
