This week, I’m moved to share one of the most important books I’ve read, reread, and gifted to many friends: I Don’t Want to Talk About It: Overcoming the Secret Legacy of Male Depression. No one book can capture all of the pain and suffering out there, but this book, recommended to me by the brilliant Esther Perel, has begun the slow and painful process of getting better. Thank you Esther, and thank you Terry. I hope everyone reads this.

I think for many of us it hits home when we have someone close to us commit suicide or it’s someone well-known. There were a couple of the latter in the last week. And there’s a seemingly relentless and persistent amount of the former: an estimated 865 people in the US take their own lives in one week.

Suffice it to say, the deeper I dive into longevity science, the more I am convinced it’s meaningless if we don’t understand emotional pain. I will be exploring this topic in great detail as the podcast takes flight.
