Elizabeth Jane Watkins (née: Rogers) (10 March 1863 – 21 October 1973) was a British supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Elizabeth Watkins was born in Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK, on 10 March 1863 to James Rogers and Eliza Rogers (née Preston). She was baptised on 13 May 1863 in a local Free Church.
On 10 March 1973, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
On 18 August 1973, following the death of 112-year-old Alice Stevenson, Watkins became the oldest living person in the United Kingdom, and Europe.
Elizabeth Watkins died Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, UK, 21 October 1973, at the age of 110 years, 225 days. Following her death, then 109-year-old Frederick Butterfield became the oldest living person in the United Kingdom, and Europe.
